can you help me out with my chemistry?

Both kinds.  One being the actual subject and the other being the guy-girl thing. *heavy sigh* I'm utterly confused.

See, the only reason I decided to take chemistry this year is because all of my junior friends raved about Mrs. Elrod and how easy she made it seem.  Well, um... SHE MOVED.  And now I have a chemical engineer that doesn't have a teaching degree.  He's really nice and he tries extremely hard, but he's just.. not a teacher.  When he tries to answer a question I have, I am pushed even further into this endless hole of confusion.  Numbers and elements swirl around in my head, never finding the correct place on the paper. We're discussing different kinds of reactions right now.  Here's what's called a synthesis reaction, or a reaction where two elements combine to form a new compound.

anna + chemistry ----->  F

The only reason I'm passing that class with an A (yes, I'm a nerd -- sorry to disappoint) right now is because all the homework grades are participation.  I don't know what I'm going to do when the next test rolls around.  The last test didn't turn out so pretty.  I made a 75... with a curve and two bonus points. *head/desk x 10*

Then there's the guy-girl thing...

So.

There's this guy (obviously..).  He loves God and Lecrae and drives this old-but-not-too-old-just-perfect pickup truck.  I'm good friends with his sister and his little brother and I have a continual joke-argument about this football play.  He waves at me, says hi, and always seems to be around when I am.  He's sat by me when their were plenty of open seats and when he looks at me, his eyes are always smiling like "I know something you don't know."  But it hasn't gone further than that.  Mainly because we're both shy.. or because he doesn't like me?  I mean, when a guy likes a girl, doesn't he do something about it?  Well, I guess he sort of has.  And I didn't give him a clear answer.  Or any answer.

He asks nicely, "Anyone sitting here?"
"No," I say, barely forcing the word out of my mouth.

We sit there in silence.  He's probably thinking "She's not into me" and I'm just happy to be in his presence.

Another instance.  Me and few friends from youth group are sitting around the table talking.  I talk to Abbey and Courtney and Elliot, but I can't bring myself to talk to him.  Because talking to him requires eye contact and eye contact means that feeling you get after you drop down the first hill on a roller coaster. And that feeling goes straight to my brain and jumbles up all the letters, words, and sentences in my head. So just don't look at him -- problem solved, right?  Wrong.  'Cause then he thinks I don't like him.. and I really, really do.

I love his voice and that it reminds me of warm, maple syrup.
I love his wittiness.
I love how he wears the same pair of khaki shorts nearly every Sunday.
I love that his favorite Poptarts are the cinnamon ones, just like me.
I love the way he says my name.
I love how when we're together, I feel like we could do anything.
I love that he loves Jesus.

But he doesn't know that.

Because I'm failing chemistry -- both kinds.

seriously? I'm exactly like that with you-know-who....I can't meet his gaze, 'cause I'd probably faint!

girl....you're amazing. Just keep being yourself, and let God take care of your chemistry ;)

Aww: "Anyone sitting here?"

I think I just melted.

Just by reading those tiny little details makes me want you two to fall in love. :) I hope it works out, because he seems very lovely. :)

If its meant to be, it will happen. No one and nothing can stop God's plan for your life :) Also, one thing that I've learned from being the tomboy that I used to be (insert cheesy smile). Don't try to talk to him alone until you are up to it. Talk to him when he's around his friends and try to join in on their conversation. OR! (My favorite) when they are playing sports, join in with them! Its one way to hang out with him and you don't have to talk much because your head is in the game. Whether its soccer, football, baseball or even if you stink. Just TRY. :)

Hope it all turns out well! :)

okay, this was such a good post. really. i'm not taking school chemistry yet, but i am taking guy/girl chemistry. and i am failing miserably. see, when i like a guy, i'm around him too much. i don't know it consciously, until someone tells me to "lay low" or "the early bird gets the worm" what does that mean? he's a few years older than me, and his sister is my bestest friend. we talk, but not that much. i think it's been circulating around that i'm head over heels in love with him, when actually, i don't know what i am. anyway, i'm going to camp today..so i'm going to see him. Lord help me.
so, you probably didn't wanna hear my whole love saga, but anyways, great post heheh :))

Well, I've never taken a chemistry class so I'm not much help there. Haha!

But...on the other chemistry subject... I think you should wait. If he's the right one, he'll pursue you. And when he does it'll be well worth the wait. :)

Totally with you there on both kinds of chemistry!! :D The subject chemistry - well, lets just say that I didn't like it 'cause I don't like numbers, math, etc. and because I'd rather take anatomy/physiology (which I'm doing right now - so I'm happy! :) As far as the guy kind, well, all my crushes have ended because the guy gets a girlfriend - sad I know. :D And they're always older than me by at least 3 years - haven't found a good one yet...all this to say - I've been in your boat and it's all going to work out. :D

I don't take chemistry yet. :P
But I have the OTHER chemistry all the time. There's this guy I like, and everyone says he likes me. He's like SUPER shy, were as I'm not so much. But I refuse to talk to him because it would just be...well, weird. His sister and I are close and our families get together often. We've been forced to sit next to/across from each other on several occasions, have microscopically small conversations (rarely), but other than that, we've got nothin'. :)
Just wait on God. :)He knows whether or not the guy you like is right for you. He'll guide you down the right path. And one day, if he's "Mr. Right", it'll just happen. God's got it allll under control. No worries my dear. :) He sounds like a very nice young man by the way. ;)

love,

hey you. so, I've been meaning to come back and comment on this every since you posted it. and finally--here I am...cuz I know you've been waiting for me.

caution: this is going to be long and possibly rambling. I can feel it coming on. ;P

(first can I sympathize with you about how horrid chemistry is? so glad those days are over. you'll survive, I promise. maybe you'll get to light your hands on fire during a lab, like I did. that's seriously the only thing that came remotely close to redeeming that class for me.)

ANYWAY.

so, here's the thing. I'm awful at chemistry. and as for the other kind...I'm awful at giving advice about that. I think everyone's story is different though, so ultimately you're just going to have to go where God leads you. not to sound preachy, but don't dwell on it. easier said than done, I realize...but don't let it get to you so that it's consuming to the point of exclusion of everything else. until God makes things either way pretty obvious with a certain special someone, life isn't at a standstill, you know? He has plans for you now, right where you're at, without having to wait in limbo for a dude.

but still--it sounds like you're going about it the best way you know how, and I'm proud of you. (: especially with seeing him so often. aaannd I'm totally with you with the not being able to talk or make eye contact (or in my case, turning red) with a guy I find attractive. grrr I hate that.

(he has a pickup truck. that's pretty cool.)

you're not failing. God's taking this somewhere--taking you somewhere. I promise.

Oh my gosh, I am loving this post! I'm in the same boat! I'm kinda confused with science right now too, and well guys ... I was never good in that area. So I can't offer much advice, but I can sure give a lot of encouragement! Go Anna! Be bold! Pass chemistry with flying colours! (both types) :)

Awe :) i love this, Anna! i wish i had a guy like that who went to my school cuz right now, i'm stuck with an immature frog who's drooling over me :P

Haha :) yeah, i'm not taking chemistry this year, but i'm not exactly skilled in any of the sciences so yeah....i feel ur pain!

Hope this guy finally wakes up and realizes that he needs to ask you out pronto because he has no idea what he's missing ;)

Love ya, girly!

Both Chemistrys {chemistries?} are amazing.
Actual Chemistry, when it clicks, is like an epiphany. I dream of ionic bonds. Seriously, it took me ages to work at it and lots of nights revising and looking over my notes and asking endless questions--but I got it.
As for the other chemistry? It's the reason I cried all day yesterday. Yes I'm lame. Yes I'm such a typical teen girl. Yes he's amazing.

aww, anna! I know how you feel! because... I feel the same way, about that other chemistry... listen to God. That's what's helping me :)
